Several of the northbound lanes of I-45 were closed off for hours today after a truck crash in which a big rig struck an overpass on I-45. The accident occurred earlier this morning, at about 5:30 a.m., in the northbound lanes of I-45 near Memorial Drive.

Officials say the crash occurred when the truck struck part of the overpass on the Gulf Freeway. Officials believe the incident occurred because the truck was too tall to pass beneath the overpass.

No injuries were reported as a result of the accident. The truck blocked several lanes, and drivers were encouraged to take alternative routes. Crews worked to clear the vehicle from the road for several hours, and the roads reopened at 12:45 p.m., about seven hours after the accident occurred.
