A deputy has been hospitalized following an accident he endured with a drunk driver on the Tomball Parkway. The accident occurred on Friday night, at about 11 p.m. on the northbound lanes of the Tomball Parkway near Spring Cypress Road.

At the time of the collision, a white Mercedes sedan was speeding in the northbound lanes of SH-249. Police say the accident occurred when the suspected drunk driver, traveling at speeds as high as 120 miles per hour, rear-ended the deputy.

Witnesses state the deputy was knocked unconscious as a result of the impact. He regained consciousness by the time EMS arrived at the scene, and was then transported to a nearby hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

The driver of the sedan, a 45-year-old man, suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision, and was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. He is set to face charges for driving while intoxicated.
