A pedestrian was hit and killed in an accident last night in Greater Greenspoint. The incident occurred at about 8:55 p.m., along the northbound lanes of the North Freeway Service Road, near where it intersects with Remington Valley Drive.

At the time of the accident, the pedestrian had been walking down the middle of the road, in the middle lane of the North Freeway Service Road in Greenspoint. Officials with the Harris County Sheriff’s Department say that the driver of the vehicle that hit him remained on the scene and spoke to police. The driver was exhibiting signs of impairment, and was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.

However, in a statement, Sergeant Beatty with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said that “The pedestrian failed to yield the right-of-way to vehicular traffic… The driver was not at fault for this crash. It’s going to be the fault of the pedestrian.”
