Man on Scooter Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash

A man riding an electric scooter was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash in downtown Houston this weekend. The accident occurred on Sunday morning, at about 12:30 a.m. in the left lane of Pease Street near where it intersects Louisiana Street.

According to police, witnesses state that the driver was at-fault for the hit-and-run. They state that the man on the scooter had right-of-way, while the driver of the truck had a red light. They are working to obtain video from nearby street cameras to confirm.

The force of the impact threw the man on the scooter into the intersection. He suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. The at-fault driver failed to stop and render aid, and instead fled the scene.

Officials say that this is the second hit-and-run crash involving a bike or scooter in one weekend. The other incident occurred on Shepherd Drive.
